The spirit of Jennie Wade is said to still walk the rooms where she met her untimely end. Guests and staff often smell the scent of freshly baked bread and catch a whiff of her rose-scented perfume.
Apparitions of Jennie and shadowy fi gures have been seen wandering the halls. Some visitors feel a sudden, unexplained chill when standing in the exact spot where Jennie fell.The house is also said to be home to child spirits, perhaps the orphans Jennie once cared for. Their playful energy manifests in the form of toys moving on their own, and some guests have reported feeling a tug on their clothing or hearing a cheerful “Hey!” as they explore the home.
Meanwhile, the presence of two male spirits—one in the cellar and one upstairs—adds to the unsettling atmosphere. These spirits are not always friendly, and their mischief includes moving objects and leaving cold spots in their wake.
